About

Cork is a Portuguese craft. We have practised it since 1987.

Three generations of family ownership, one site, one material — refined into a calibrated industrial supply for customers worldwide.

Dimas & Silva facility

Origin

From the montado.

Our raw material comes from the cork-oak forests of southern Portugal — harvested on a nine-year cycle that does not harm the tree, and that supports one of the most biodiverse landscapes in Europe.

Process

Circular by design.

Every fragment of the plank — granulate, powder, dust — finds a product stream. Energy that cannot be reused returns to dry the next batch. There is no end-of-line waste, by intention.

Partnership

For industry leaders.

We work with manufacturers who treat material specification as a strategic decision — and with architects and design studios on bespoke installations, engineering custom cork pieces from drawings rather than selling from a catalogue.

Our history

Nearly four decades of cork.

Founded in 1987 in the heart of Portugal's cork country, Dimas & Silva was built on a simple commitment — to transform cork with discipline and respect for the raw material. Over more than 40 years we have grown alongside our customers, investing in process, equipment and people to keep pace with an industry that has become increasingly technical and demanding.

Today we supply granulates, powder, blocks, rolls and plank cork to manufacturers in more than 30 countries, with the same industrial discipline and the same closeness to the customer as on day one.

Family business

Three generations, one family.

We are a Portuguese family business, run by the second and third generations of the founding family. That continuity is what allows us to think long term — in our customer relationships, in industrial investment, and in the cork-oak forest our raw material comes from.

Deciding as a family means deciding slowly and with responsibility: every commitment we make is one we intend to honour over decades, not quarters.
