Industrial noise control begins with isolating the source. Cork pads and machine mounts decouple equipment from the structural slab, preventing structure-borne transmission to the rest of the building. A 10 mm cork-rubber composite typically removes 60 to 80 percent of vibration energy in the 20 to 200 Hz range typical of rotating machinery.

Around the source, dense cork blocks act as sound barriers without the corrosion problems of mineral materials in humid environments. Their stability under temperature cycling makes them suited to spaces where insulation foams degrade.
